New British Motorsports Partnership For 2011
Corbeau Seats, the original British manufacturer of motorsports and fast road seats, Luke Harnesses and Showtrax International, the market leading supplier of specialist automotive display and pit lane equipment have formed an all British motorsports partnership, following the acquisition of the three businesses by CM Consolidated Ltd.
Hastings, United Kingdom, March 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The new company, which is to be known as CMC Group has been formed by a number of businessmen and motorsports enthusiasts and is headed by Paul Jackson, (father of Carrera Cup racer Ollie) as Group Chairman, Andy Britnell (ex TVR Tuscan and Carrera Cup racer) as Group Managing Director. Michael Quaife of the highly respected Quaife Engineering business also joins the CMC Group board.
The first acquisition of 2011 was the majority stake taken in Showtrax International. The existing management will continue to operate the business. Bob Warren of Showtrax said,
“I am very excited by this deal for our business and delighted that it is to be run by a team of experienced businessmen that I have known for a number of years and who share a passion for motorsport.”
At Corbeau Seats, motorsports enigma Vic Lee has been appointed Managing Director. With over 40 years motorsports experience and two BTCC titles as a team principle, Vic Lee brings a wealth of industry expertise. Colin Folwell, who founded the company in 1963, will remain with the company as President. Along with new leadership, the company has already benefited from a first phase of investment in a new range of TUV approved road seats and an improved range of FIA approved motorsports seats for 2011. Vic Lee said,
“The Corbeau brand is a highly respected one in the industry and joining the company is a great opportunity for me to take it forward. We’re already investing heavily in R&D, quality control and production processes to ensure we remain at the cutting edge of the industry and cement our position as market leaders in the UK. Customer care will be our number one priority and we’re focused on delivering total satisfaction to our retail and motorsport customers.”
As a sign of the group’s intent to expand the range and diversity of the services they offer the motorsports industry, CMC Group have today also announced the establishment of a race team, Lotus Sport (UK) which will run the Lotus Evora GT4 in the British GT Championship in 2011 under the management of former BTCC and Le Mans driver Gary Ayles.
