Mama Cares Foundation Invites San Diego Community to Join in Its Campaign to Feed Malnourished Children
First Annual Restore Life Benefit Dinner and Auction to be held on March 19 at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa.
Carlsbad, CA, March 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Mama Cares Foundation, a non-profit foundation focused on eliminating severe acute malnutrition, announced today that it is hosting its First Annual Restore Life Benefit Dinner and Auction on Saturday March 19, 2011 at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa. All of the proceeds from the event will fund its RE:VIVE initiative. RE:VIVE is a simple packet of fortified peanut-based ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) full of the essential vitamins and minerals a child needs to reverse the effects of malnutrition.
Mama Cares Foundation is sending an open invitation to the San Diego community to attend this life-saving event. “A 30-45 day course of a RUTF improves the survival rate of a severely malnourished child from 10% to 90%, taking a child from death to life,” said Mike Mellace, executive director, Mama Cares Foundation. “If a company simply buys a table at our event, they can save 16 lives. Spend one evening with us and you can truly make a difference.”
At the dinner you will learn more about the RE:VIVE initiative, enjoy a delicious dinner and have the opportunity to bid on over thirty exciting live and silent auction items. Among the items up for bid is artwork from two impressive artists: Andrew Holder and Joel Zuercher. Andrew grew up in San Diego and is currently working and residing in Los Angeles. His unique style has attracted clients like American Express, Urban Outfitters, Roxy, National Geographic, and Sub Pop Records. (www.andrewholder.net)
Joel is another young, talented artist from Los Angeles. His love of photography shows through in his work. Joel incorporates his experiences behind the lens into his pieces whenever the opportunity presents itself. (www.joelz.com)
All proceeds from the dinner and auction will go toward feeding hungry children. The statistics are disheartening: Every six seconds, a child dies because he/she did not have access to essential nutrients. 20 million children are suffering from acute malnutrition which is the underlying cause of death for between three and five million children under five every year. But there is hope: RE:VIVE offers a real solution to this devastating situation.
The Vision: No child should ever die from malnutrition.
