Author to Write Romance Book with Help from Readers

Diana Laurence, author of the award-winning "Soulful Sex" anthologies, wants to write her next book with her readers as partners in the creative process. Her project, "Soulful Sex: Partners," may be the first time an author has used the tools of the internet to enable readers to take part in the creation of a published book.

Author to Write Romance Book with Help from Readers
Milwaukee, WI, February 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- You could call it "fiction by committee," a new concept in audience participation.

Author Diana Laurence recently announced her latest project, a plan to create a work of romance fiction with input and guidance supplied by readers and fans. Laurence is the author of the award-winning "Soulful Sex" series of spicy romance anthologies. She dubbed her brainchild "Soulful Sex: Partners," and via the Internet invited interested parties to sign up as members.

These Soulful Sex Partners will participate in the creative process using various Web tools, including online surveys, chats, and group emailings. They may also keep abreast of the book's progress and comment upon it via the project's official blog, "Soulful Sex: Partners" (www.soulfulsex-partners.blogspot.com).

The project commenced in January 2007, with 40 charter members as well as the backing of four prominent websites: Coffee Time Romance, eCataromance.com, The Romance Studio and The Lipstick Mystic.

Laurence, whose latest paperback, "Soulful Sex: The Paranormal, Science Fiction and Fantasy Collections," is slated for March release, plans to start the project in earnest later that month. She will begin by letting Partners determine the genre of the new book. "I can see getting input from Partners on everything from character names to plot choices," says Laurence. "It will be so much fun giving readers input into the content of the story and seeing how it unfolds."

The completed work will be published by Living Beyond Reality Press later in 2007. All Soulful Sex Partners will be included by name in the book’s acknowledgments.

"I feel strongly that we live in an age where all mass media are more accessible to ordinary people," says Laurence. "We've seen what YouTube has done for video expression. I myself have become successful thanks to the technological tools of ebooks and P-O-D printing. It seemed to me it was high time to experiment with using technology to enable readers to take part in the creation of a work of fiction."

Interested readers may sign up as Soulful Sex Partners via Yahoo Groups; a sign up link appears on the project's blog. For more information see also Diana Laurence's official website at www.dianalaurence.com and the Living Beyond Reality Press website at www.livingbeyondreality.com.
