A Wisconsin Family Helps Online Shoppers Give to Charities

Kidzcharities, an Online Shopping Mall, Makes it Easy for Shoppers to Support Children’s Charities While Shopping Online

Stoughton, WI, February 19, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Shoppers can now donate to charity using the simple idea of a Wisconsin family. Steve and Beth Sharp of Stoughton, WI, along with their three sons Ryan, Andy, and Josh, are making such donations easy by providing a connection between retailers and charities through a new web site named Kidzcharities.com. And it doesn’t cost the shopper a thing!

When the Sharp’s youngest son graduated from High School, the couple decided to look for a way to offer their free time. “We enjoyed over 20 years of coaching and working with children,” Steve said, adding, “It was just a natural progression for us to develop an idea to raise money for charity that specifically involved children, without asking for a donation.” The Sharp’s came up with an idea to develop and build a web site for such a purpose. “It took us a over a year, but with our son’s help, we were able to put all the pieces in place.”

Now more than 250 major retail stores are listed on the Sharp’s web site including Starbucks, Macy’s, Target and Best Buy. “It’s really a simple concept on every level. First, our customers enjoy the savings and selection of shopping online from stores they are familiar with, second, it doesn’t cost anything extra to shop, and most importantly a portion of every purchase goes to the March of Dimes and Special Olympics Wisconsin,” Sharp said.

Special Olympics Wisconsin represents nearly 10,000 athletes in the state, training and competing in more than 75 competitions a year in 18 sports. The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, prematurity and infant mortality. This mission is carried out through research, community services, education and advocacy by researchers, volunteers, educators and outreach workers working together to give all babies a healthy start.

The Sharp’s reside in the small mid-western city of Stoughton, Wisconsin. Steve works full time as a client representative for a wholesale building material company. Beth has spent much of her time raising their children, and has worked as a preschool teacher for many years.
