NY-Style Pizzeria Invites Community to Join in on March Madness with a Flippin’ Twist
Flippin’ Pizza Calls for Pie Creations to Give Fans an Opportunity to Take a Chance at the Big Dance
San Diego, CA, March 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Just as basketball fans rally for March Madness, pizza aficionados can now come together to take a shot at creating their very own namesake pie. Flippin’ Pizza, the North County community staple known for authentic New York pies & slices and giving back to the community, launched its Create-A-Pie March Madness contest on March 1, 2011.The crowned champion’s pie will be featured in local Flippin’ Pizza stores throughout the month of April.
Flippin’ Pizza invites its fans to get social and submit their pie creation on its Facebook fan page. Flippin’ Pizza referees will post the top 16 Create-A-Pie picks on March 17 and the games will commence on March 18. Flippin’ Fans can move their favorite pie to the next tournament round by “liking” the pie on the Flippin’ Pizza Facebook fan page. Voting will take place every game day. The new brackets will be announced the following week. A breakdown of the game dates is as follows:
Saucy Sixteen – Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19
Enticing Eight – Saturday, March 26
Flippin’ Final Four – Sunday, April 3
Crowned Champion – In stores - Monday, April 4
To eliminate any foul pies, the Final Four pies will be chosen by Flippin’ Pizza referees and will be announced at a live in-person “Tweet-Up” with the Flippin’ Pizza Food Truck. Fans will be given a bite of the final four pies to see which one they believe is a slam dunk. Voting will open online and in-person. The March Madness winning pie will be announced and featured in local Flippin’ Pizza stores beginning on Monday, April 4.
