A Silver Lining for Stanley Gibbons at Indipex 2011
Stanley Gibbons take home two Silver, three Large Silver and one Vermeil medal from the Indipex 2011 Literature Exhibition, echoing their success at London 2010 in May last year.
London, United Kingdom, March 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Having taken a trade stand at the World Philatelic Exhibition, Indipex 2011, in New Delhi, India, Stanley Gibbons submitted six of its publications into the Literature Exhibition, gaining Silver or above for each of the publications entered.
The company submitted five of its world recognised catalogues and its long running magazine, Gibbons Stamp Monthly; achieving Vermeil for Great Britain Concise 2010, Large Silvers for Stamps of the World 2010, Commonwealth and Empire Stamps 1840-1970 2010 edition and Gibbons Stamp Monthly and Silver for its one-country catalogues, India 3rd edition and Bangladesh, Burma, Pakistan and Sri Lanka 2nd edition.
These awards come just nine months after their previous haul of eleven medals at the World Philatelic Exhibition, London 2010, where Stamps of the World, Commonwealth and Empire and Great Britain Concise 2009 achieved two Large Silver and a Vermeil medal respectively. Previous to the London exhibition the company had not exhibited their literature competitively for several years.
"We have been away from the competition circuit for quite some time and it’s nice to return on a high note. We are very pleased with our haul of nothing less than Silver and we really must thank all the collectors and dealers who contribute suggestions and images, making each new edition a significant advance on its predecessor," said Magazine and Catalogue Editor, Hugh Jefferies.
Unfortunately for some of the competitors, several of the exhibits were lost in transit, including those of Stanley Gibbons. However, thanks to the efforts of Chris King, the UK Commissioner to the show, the company managed to gather copies of the relevant literature for their entry, from their stand stock.
"We really are grateful to Chris for all his help," said Hugh.
