First Place Winner of 2010 Literary Award, The Adventures of PJ and Split Pea Nothing But the Tooth, Published by Outskirts Press
Reader Views’ expert judges have named S. D. Moore’s new PJ and Split Pea adventure the winner of the 2010 First Place Literary Award for early readers. The second in her popular series, Moore’s newest release takes readers on PJ’s last minute search for a replacement tooth for Picture Day.
Anchorage, AK, March 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Veteran children’s author S. D. Moore announced today the release of the second volume of her PJ and Split Pea adventure series, Nothing But the Tooth, published by Outskirts Press. This award winning children’s book continues the rambunctious adventures of PJ and Split Pea, the wisecracking parrot with a British accent, as they look for a tooth to hide PJ’s new dental gap for the upcoming Picture Day.
PJ has already had his quota of embarrassing moments at earlier Picture Days at school. Once, due to a green magic marker somehow having gone wildly out of control, he ended up looking surprisingly similar to a Martian. Another year he arrived a gluey-haired mess for the photographic event.
All is going well for this year’s festivity until PJ wakes up missing a tooth the day before. Determined to solve this new “problem,” he and Split Pea launch off on a quest to buy, beg or borrow a new set of teeth for PJ. What could go wrong?
After being validated by the Reader Views First Place Award, author Moore said, “I cried when I received the notification.”
Hardly surprising. In 1993, after a military tour of duty in the Middle East, Moore had a stroke and lost nearly half the communication sector of her brain. She couldn’t spell simple words like “very” and “the.” Now she’s the winner of this prestigious children’s book award.
“I hope this inspires people to keep fighting to accomplish their dreams. It’s possible,” says Moore.
