Notable highlights are the Neoclassical giltwood single-light girandole mirror, the Terracotta bust of Castruccio Castracani degli Antelminelli, the pair of Louis XVI style Blackamoor two-light wall sconces and the pair of life-size Blackamoor figures. Also included in the Nye & Company acution are a Vacheron & Constantin naval deck watch and some excellent 19th century lighting. A Montclair private collector has a print by John James Audubon of the Semipalmated Sandpiper and other sporting prints. Two collectors of good African art coincidentally decided to sell at the same time, so the auction has a large offering of masks, tribal clubs, shields, spears and drums, many of which are fitted with customized black metal stands.
