Award Winning Film "Emerging Past" Gets May Release
Spectra Records & The Phoenix Group pair up to release soundtrack and movie for "Emerging Past."
Studio City, CA, March 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Church Hill Productions and Chocolate Bunny Productions finalized deals with Spectra Records and The Phoenix Group to distribute their triple award winning film “Emerging Past” and the film’s soundtrack. Spectra is handling the domestic release of the DVD and soundtrack and The Phoenix Group is overseeing the sale of television, video on demand, online and foreign rights.
Spectra will release the soundtrack on May 3rd and the DVD on May 17th in fine stores nationwide. The 17 song soundtrack, primarily an alternative rock album with a mixture of pop and instrumental movie themes is available online now through sites like iTunes, Amazon and Rhapsody as well as through Spectra and the film’s website. This partnership with Spectra marks quite an achievement for an independent film and puts “Emerging Past” into the ranks of major studio releases. "One of the best soundtracks I've heard all year! Great from start to finish." – Bobby Collins, Spectra Records.
The musical score and several of the songs were written for the film by Gerard McMann, better known as G Tom Mac, most famous for his cult favorite “Cry Little Sister” from the movie “The Lost Boys.” His single from the film “Soul I Bare” has already become a hit, along with its accompanying music video shot by “Emerging Past” filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill. G Tom Mac’s song with late actor Cory Haim, “Mend Me,” is also featured and is the only song Haim ever recorded. Katie DiCicco lends two songs, her award winning “Mud,” which took Best Song at the New York City International Film Festival and “Beautiful Tragedy.” Other Spectra artists such as Kizzy Star (National Recording Artist), Magni (Rockstar Supernova TV Show and Gold Selling Artist) and the never before heard track “Hello Lonely” by Paul McCartney’s guitarist Brian Ray round out the playlist. Churchill is extremely proud of the finished products and feels they have “earned their position in stores next to the top grossing films.” This partnership is just the beginning for projects between Spectra and Church Hill Productions. Look for more music, film and events from this team in the near future.
The Phoenix Group is positioning “Emerging Past” with domestic cable channels, online providers and foreign distributors to complete the distribution of the film. The Phoenix Group has been producing and distributing entertainment programming internationally since 1991 with a current production slate of over 95 features for domestic television and 70 for foreign markets. CEO Bud Schaffer is very optimistic about the company’s sales results in marketing “Emerging Past” internationally. He believes that most foreign markets will license the picture and it will get lucrative domestic TV broadcast deals. The entire sales force is pulling together to assure maximum success for the promotion of the film.
Churchill has garnered much attention in the horror film world with “Emerging Past,” which he wrote, directed and produced. After creating a buzz at the 2010 New York City International Film Festival, the film took home awards for Best Horror Feature and Best Song. This impressive accomplishment was followed by a Best Actor win at the Spooky Empire Freakshow Horror Film Festival making three wins in as many screenings - an enviable record for any feature film. “Emerging Past” was featured at the Mr. Hush Weekend of Fear as well as the Salty Horror Film Festival. Churchill will screen his film at Weekend of Fear (Germany), Full Moon Tattoo & Horror Festival (Nashville), Contamination (St. Louis) and Days of the Dead (Indianapolis) as he continues to show it to eager horror fans at festivals and conventions around the country in 2011.
“Emerging Past” is a horror twisted psycho-thriller rollercoaster ride of terror that follows a tormented woman on her journey to discover where her past is leading her. The film features an impressive cast of genre stars including: Brooke McCarter (“The Lost Boys”), Steve Dash (“Friday the 13th Part 2), Tony Moran (“Halloween 1 & 2”) and Stephen Geoffreys (“Fright Night”). Churchill says that his vision for the film came from a road trip to Washington DC, the setting for one of his favorite films, “The Exorcist” and says “somewhere between “The Exorcist” and “The Omen” “Emerging Past” shall sit.”
