Poetic Journey from the Dark to the Light, Sanctuary of the Soul, Published by Outskirts Press
Aaron St. Julien’s new collection of poems takes readers on his sixteen year journey of challenging himself, facing the fears that arose from those challenges and chronicling his metamorphosis from the dark to the light in these well crafted poems.
Pittsburgh, PA, March 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Poet Aaron St. Julien announced today the release of his new collection of poems, Sanctuary of the Soul, Sacred Heart Offering, published by Outskirts Press. St. Julien’s poems chronicle his extensive travel and experience as he increasingly moves onto the spiritual plane as a mode for making sense of his physical surroundings.
The thirty-one year old Pittsburgh native started writing poetry at the age of thirteen. Raised in an urban jungle and continually grappling with the meaning of life, St. Julien has used his poetry as a foundation in his life not only for describing his remarkable adventures, but also for helping him understand them.
The mystic poet served two years in the National Guard and soon noticed the increased rigidity in his approach to life as a result of the military experience. He then worked as a laborer and as a health care aid, gleaning the wisdom passed on by his elderly clients. He spent two years as a flight attendant for U.S. Airways and traveled to Honduras, Barbados, Rome, Egypt, Trinidad and Mexico. All along the way he documented his growth by continually putting his thoughts and emotions into his poems.
Sanctuary of the Soul is an inspirational tale of one man’s search for the truth and his ultimate transformation through the deep meditative experiences that revealed to him knowledge and insight and provided a healing of his mind, body and soul. St. Julien ultimately gained a full understanding that the healing of others is encompassed in one’s own healing.
“Words can help open the mind,” says St. Julien. “They challenge you to think things you may not have thought before. It goes even deeper. It’s connecting with people’s souls.”
St. Julien’s spiritual journey through poetry is a fascinating expression of personal growth from his urban roots to his multifaceted view of humanity and his understanding of the spiritual foundation to all of the life he has been able to observe around him.
