Connecticut DEP Selects Eco International as 'Covered Electronic Recycler'

Vestal, NY, March 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Eco International is excited to announce that it has received approval from the State of Connecticut's Department of Environmental Protection to serve as a "covered electronic recycler" under the state's Electronics Recycling Law and as part of the Connecticut Statewide Electronics Recycling Program.

Eco International, an ISO 14001:2004 Certified Recycler, will offer its electronic recycling services to benefit manufacturers, municipalities and individual households throughout the state of Connecticut. Only approved 'Covered Electronic Recyclers' are authorized to bill manufacturers of covered electronic devices (CEDs) generated by Connecticut households.

“Eco International has serviced towns and municipalities in Connecticut for more than a decade and we are pleased that the Department of Environmental Protection, (DEP), has taken a very active role in administering their e-waste regulations,” said Jay Simonis, Eco International’s COO. "The forward thinking approach the DEP has taken in selecting recyclers, affords the towns and municipalities the ability to select a responsible recycler who not only keeps electronics out of the landfills, but keeps them from being exported.”

Under the Connecticut law, manufacturers of computers, computer monitors, printers, and televisions, must participate in a state-wide electronics recycling program established by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection to implement and finance the collection, transportation, and recycling of such items from Connecticut households.
