Los Angeles, CA, March 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- In response to the overwhelming interest as a result of the recent megaquake in Japan, West Coast Emergency Preparedness Center (WCEPC) has announced new one day disaster preparedness seminars to be held at numerous Southern California churches. The seminars will cater to churches and citizens interested in disaster preparedness from a Christian perspective. The seminars will eventually be held Statewide as demand increases.

The one day seminars are designed to be the first step for those interested in preparedness before moving up to more advanced training such as the Emergency Medical Responder course or Church Emergency Response Team training. Seminars are open to individuals as well as entire families. It is crucial that people understand that preparedness is a way of life and not just a passing fad as seen with past disasters.

After a disaster strikes, communities will look to the church for assistance with food, shelter, medical care and counseling for those affected by disaster. For this reason WCEPC specializes in helping churches answer the call by training teams of volunteers to respond in the wake of a disaster. These teams recieve training in first aid, CPR, triage and much more making them an affective tool to assist local emergency response agencies.

Many churches underestimate their ability to provide help in a disaster and therefore never pursue such avenues. Too many churches are allowing a huge opportunity to work closely within their communities slip away. WCEPC is working diligently to turn this trend around and help churches focus on preparedness.
