At a recent ceremony in Las Vegas, the superheroes received a well-recognized Pyramid award for work in their industry. Recently, the owners and superhero duo, Sonya and Brian Beam graduated Valedictorians from the EDN Capacity Building Course and received a prestigious eagle award in recognition of their achievement. Pyramid Award
In an award ceremony at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, PPAI (www.ppai.org) awarded The P.O.P. Shop with a well-recognized Silver Pyramid Award in recognition of their work along side client Georgia-Pacific in the category “Not-For-Profit Programs: $10 or More Per Recipient.” Georgia-Pacific, the makers of Quilted Northern Ultra® Bath Tissue, is in partnership with Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Georgia-Pacific’s objective was to exceed 1000 employee walker registrations for the Atlanta Race for the Cure®, maintaining its status as the largest corporate team in Atlanta, Georgia.

In its second year providing promotional items, printing and design elements to the event, The P.O.P. Shop came to the rescue with creative product ideas and designs to encourage attendance to the kickoff event. Employees received a pink gift bag with a Quilted Northern Ultra logo, which encouraged employees to pick up giveaway items throughout the auditorium, as well as register for the race and receive a race day t-shirt. Georgia-Pacific’s team consisted of 1121 registered walkers, which was 11.2% over goal and once again the largest corporate team in Atlanta.

In a letter to PPAI, Kim Harris of Georgia-Pacific stated, “The P.O.P. Shop did a great job keeping my theme in mind, and even stepped up to volunteer. They also coordinated donation of pink themed food items from one of their clients. I view them as an integral part of my team. I include them from the brainstorming session through to execution, as they are a valued source.”

Capacity Class Graduates
The superhero duo graduated Valedictorian from the Capacity Building Course powered by Edmondson Development Network (www.edmondsonassociates.com). The course utilizes NxLevel™ (www.nxlevel.org) curriculum known as the world’s largest and most effective entrepreneurship development course. Upon completion each classmate developed a ready-to-execute strategic plan for growing their business. Sponsors, Georgia-Pacific and BellSouth, use the course to develop vendors who do business with large corporations. Sonya Beam said, “The course gave us the focus and accountability we needed to work on our business instead of in our business. We began making changes to our business immediately based on the course text, worksheets and speakers.”

New Product Innovation
High Caliber (www.highcaliberline.com/contest.php), a promotional products supplier, has an annual, Innovative Ideas Contest. The P.O.P. Shop won first prize - $25,000 for their innovative product entry. The product is still under wraps, as it goes through the production and patent processes. It’s expected to release in June 2007.
