Could Pop Singer Jose Hendrix be the Next "International" Michael Jackson?
A collaboration CD created between an American songwriter, Kelly Myers and a Congolese pop singer-producer has gained the interest of a Grammy award winning engineer. Listeners have drawn comparisons of Jose's sweet tenor vocals and energetic style to that of Michael Jackson.
Los Angeles, CA, March 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The anticipated, soon to be released CD, called Embrace the Earth was borne from a virtual music connection between an American songwriter, Kelly Myers and African pop singer, Jose Hendrix, less than one year ago.
Jose's progressive musical abilities allow the creation of songs with Latin guitars and African Rumba for a blended mix of cool grooves and rhythmic vocals highlighted on the North American debut CD, Embrace the Earth. The work is a culmination of creativity and a determination to craft a musical relationship from across the world, virtually. "Jose and I decided to make a human connection and we were both dedicated to the best outcome for the music. We've worked very hard for this. Using the Internet, we both got to do what we loved: make music. Nothing contrived," Kelly Myers said. "The widespread interest and acceptance of our work has really surprised me."
Songs created in the United States by Myers were sent to Jose in DRC. Jose recorded the songs using local Congolese talent. The result is unusual and inventive. Jose’s layered use of vocals to sketch out the song gives the music a serious depth coupled with energetic and lively Latin and African influences. Congolese music is currently one of the most popular in Africa and can be heard all over Kenya and South Africa.
"The outcome of this N. American – African collaboration is unlike anything I have ever heard, which is what I wanted when Jose and I decided to embark on this project together," Myers says. "We wanted to do something different but still be likable and universally appealing. Some songs have lines in Spanish and in French." Every song from Embrace the Earth, all 14 songs, have been peer-voted to Broadjam’s Latin-Rock Top 10 Chart.
With Jose having vocals in a tenor range like the late Michael Jackson and music that has a bit of a Santana flavor, it’s no wonder a Grammy award winning engineer has taken interest. Corporate sponsors are also seeing value in having their name associated with Jose Hendrix and are beginning to make offers. In addition to being lucky enough to be working with the best of the best in the business, Jose Hendrix and Kelly Myers have landed a movie and soundtrack publishing deal. Jose Hendrix's North American debut tour will begin in Kansas City in April. The debut CD will be available on iTunes in April. To listen to the music go to www.broadjam.com/josehendrix
