Atlanta Magician of the Year Awarded to First Female Corporate Magician Recipient in 35 Year History

Atlanta, GA, February 22, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Atlanta Magician Debbie Leifer was just awarded the prestigious Atlanta Magician of the Year award. Leifer is the only female Corporate Magician in Atlanta, and the only one in the award's 35 year history to receive the honor.
The award is voted on by the membership of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians, Atlanta chapters. This year, eight Atlanta magicians were nominated and after two rounds of voting, Debbie Leifer was awarded the title "2006 Atlanta Magician of the Year" in early 2007.
“This is such an honor, it will always be one of the highlights of my career in magic,” Leifer said. “In the thirty-five year history of this award, many exceptional magicians have received this recognition. All their names are engraved on the trophy, so I’m reminded every day of the significant magical footsteps I walk in.”
A successful Corporate Magician and Motivational Speaker, Leifer presents customized magic creatively combined with motivational messages at corporate meetings, conferences, trade shows, and awards banquets. She has performed more than 350 shows in Japan and Hong Kong during five tours, and entertained on eight Caribbean cruises. Leifer performed throughout the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, entertained at two Super Bowls, taught magic to Muhammad Ali, and had the honor of entertaining President George Bush.
“My interest in magic began when I was eight years old,” said Leifer. “Performing my first corporate magic show at age 14 was certainly a unique start to my career. I have the best job in the world! Being a magician has given me the opportunity to travel, have exciting experiences, and meet great people.”
The winner of the Atlanta Magician of the Year Award is determined using a detailed process of evaluating an outstanding magician’s performance skills, creativity, contributions to the art of magic and the local Atlanta magic community, as well as significant charitable performances. Leifer is the only female corporate magician to have ever received this award. In the 35-year history of the Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year award, only two other women have taken home the title, one hobbyist and one children's entertainer.

Leifer was a featured speaker at the 2006 national conference of the Society of American Magicians; she was instrumental in obtaining the proclamation from Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue naming National Magic Week in Georgia; and she serves on the Board of Directors of The Georgia Magic Club, and on the National Council of the Society of American Magicians.
