A.P. Moller-Maersk (A Danish shipping and oil group) said on Thursday; its vessels would not enter or pass through an offshore area close to an overheating nuclear plant in Japan.
"We have defined an exclusion zone -- off shore from the Fukushima nuclear power plant -- where vessels are not to enter or transit. As long as it is considered safe, Maersk vessels will continue to call Japan."
He added that the exclusion zone was a minimum of 30 km. "We are monitoring the situation and it might change," said Maersk group press officer, Michael Christian Storgaard.
MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) said, “We accept bookings to/from Japan as we have been doing. All of the MSC ports listed are working normally, Yokohama, Omaezaki, Nagoya, Yokkaichi, Kobe, Osaka, Hakata. Exception: Below outports cannot be accepted due to Tsunami strike; Sendai (Miyagi), Hachinohe, Ofunato, Hitachinaka, Kashima,” said MSC JAPAN K.K.
Evergreen Group announced today; The Group Chairman Dr. Yung-fa Chang has instructed that the Group's resources, including but not limited to, the marine and aviation business be used to assist the rescue work for the unspeakable tragedy of earthquake and Tsunami that occurred in Japan on March 11.
