Epoch Homes Awarded Green Approved Product Certification for Custom Modular Homes by NAHB Research Center
Epoch Homes, a leading Green Custom Modular Home Manufacturer, is the first supplier of Prefab Homes to be awarded the Green Approved Product Seal by the NAHB Research Center and to be integrated into the Green Building Scoring Tool to make it easier for Builders to make sustainable choices.
Pembroke, NH, March 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Epoch Homes (www.EpochHomes.com) continues to lead the industry, building award winning, fully custom designed Green modular buildings for residential and light commercial markets across the Northeast. The company is pleased to announce that their custom homes are now integrated into the National Green Building Standard Scoring Tool as the first modular homes to carry the Green Approved certification and to be listed on the NAHB Research Center’s www.greenapprovedproducts.com in the modular homes category.
After working with the NAHB Research Center on a Pilot Program in 2008 to develop a robust process for verification of Green Building in a controlled factory environment, Epoch became the first plant to be approved under the new program. Green Approved products have undergone a rigorous process that results in third party certification. Once certified, the products simplify the selection process for Builders and Architects looking to earn points in the design of sustainable homes under the National Green Building Standard, ICC-700 http://www.nahbgreen.org/ScoringTool.aspx . Epoch Homes earn 13 points under Section 601.5 (4) Modular construction for the entire building located above grade.
“Having Epoch Homes included as a link in the Green Building Scoring Tool is an important next step in our ongoing initiative to make Green Building easier for Builders and home buyers, alike”, said CEO, John Ela. “An important part of our strategic plan is to make our customers more successful. Making it easier for custom home Builders to incorporate sustainability into their homes is critical for differentiation and to meet the needs of discerning home buyers in what is currently a very competitive housing market. Being Green Approved is one of many support tools that we can provide our growing Independent Builder Network.”
In addition to earning points for using the efficiencies of modular construction, Epoch Homes assists their builders in attaining additional points for all of the Green Elements that are completed in the factory and guides them through the scoring process. The Green Approved certification also allows Epoch Homes to conduct the verification of the work done at the plant with oversight from a third party agency. Any of Epoch Homes’ custom designs are ready to be certified at the Bronze level; however, most are certified at Silver, Gold or Emerald. The company has also built a number of homes at the Platinum level under the LEED for Homes certification program.
