Free Tax Clinic Available for Military Veterans
Law Students in Phoenix School of Law’s Veteran’s Tax Clinic have Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) certification and work closely with the IRS to ensure quality preparation and information.
Phoenix, AZ, March 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- As the April 18th tax deadline approaches, the Phoenix School of Law’s Veteran’s Tax Clinic will be offering Free tax preparation of personal federal income taxes to Military Veterans.
Where: Phoenix School of Law: 4041 N. Central Ave., Suite 101 – Building B
When: Saturday, April 2nd from 9:00am – 1:00pm Walk-ins Welcome.

Military Veterans will need to bring the following documentation for their tax preparation:
• Proof of identification
• Social security card
• Birth dates for spouse and dependents on tax return
• Current year’s tax package
• Wage and earning statements form W-2
• Interest and dividends statements from banks
• Discharge forms
The Veterans Tax Clinic is operated by second and third year law students. The students have Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) certification. The students receive IRS training from a tax specialist and are supervised by a tax professional. Phoenix School of Law works closely with the IRS to ensure quality preparation and information. The Veterans Tax Clinic offers assistance in the following areas:
- Personal Federal Income Tax Advice
- Personal Federal Income Tax Preparation
- Assistance to Veterans
The faculty and administration at the Phoenix School of Law believe that in order to create law graduates who are professionally prepared, they must be exposed to practical skills and ethical instruction in a variety of different ways: externships, workshops, classes and mentoring. This practical experience helps develop their students to be professionally prepared upon graduation. Through the clinical experience, each student will demonstrate improved skills of learning from practice and will have developed a strong commitment to the value of lifelong learning in the practice of law.
