Local Mom Blogger Does Her Part to Help Detroiters Save Money

Robyn Adams fell in love with the city of Detroit when she moved there 4 years ago. To help a city that has fallen on hard luck, she started a website to help locals save money around Detroit and online.

Detroit, MI, March 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- When Robyn Adams moved to the Detroit area 4 years ago, she was struck by one thing: the determined spirit of those she met in her new city. They were tough and weren’t going to let something like a floundering economy knock them down.

“It was like each person I spoke with about the woes they’d faced were even more determined by what they had been through,” said Adams, owner of the money saving blog, “Detroit Coupons and Deals.”

“I really liked the spirit of the people here and was happy it was where my husband and I would be raising our family.”

As Adams became more involved in her Waterford area community, she knew she wanted to contribute to Metro Detroit in a positive way and one that really helped those she had grown to love.

It was out of that resolve, something she had learned very well after living in Metro Detroit for the last few years, that she decided to start a website to help Detroiters save the hard earned money so many of them were struggling to make.

“I grew up in Oklahoma in the 1980’s when the oil economy tanked. I was raised by a single mom who worked in that industry, so I learned a thing or two about stretching a dollar,” she said.

Adams put her skills to work in early January when she started her blog “Detroit Coupons and Deals,” where she posts coupons and bargains from around the Metro area and online. She also posts other general tips on how to save money for her readers.

“I may not be able to do a lot to help my neighbors, but I can share what I know,” she commented. “It’s something I truly enjoy doing and I’ve gotten great feedback.”

Some of the features of the website include bargains she finds at local grocery stores like Meijer and Kroger, coupons for local services, online deals she stumbles on, and entertainment from around the Detroit area that can be done for free or nearly free.

“Many of these things my family is already taking advantage of. Giving other locals the tools they need to save money like my family does gives me a great deal of satisfaction.”

The website offers a bonus for its readers, too. Adams wrote an electronic book called “30 Ways to Slash Your Budget in 30 Days,” she offers to her readers for free. “I can promise that if readers of the book utilize at least some of my methods they will save a fair amount of money within a month,” she said.

Adams’ website can be found at www.DetroitCouponsandDeals.com. She plans to continue to grow the website in the coming months and offer even more ways for Metro Detroiters to save money.
