Carle Place, NY, March 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Tragedy Overseas Strikes a Personal Chord and Inspires Fund-raiser
Shiro of Japan, Long Island’s premier Japanese hibachi steakhouse, established over 35 years ago in Carle Place, is planning “RELIEF – JAPAN,” a fund-raiser, in an effort to support the heroic relief measures taking place in Japan. The tragic earthquake and tsunami brought immeasurable sorrow, pain and grief to the Japanese. And now the release of radiation has made the aftermath of these natural disasters inconceivably worse. As Americans continue to witness the heartache and devastation from afar, they want to help in a meaningful way. Hiro Ishikawa, Co-owner of Shiro of Japan, is appealing to Long Island/New York City area residents to join the disaster response effort at RELIEF – JAPAN, a fund-raising event, on Monday, April 11, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
“Our patrons, friends and neighbors have expressed deep sympathy for the terrible loss of life in Japan. Survivors’ lives have been changed profoundly. They grieve for loved ones, deal with destruction and struggle for the basic needs of clean water, food and safe shelter. In the past, Shiro of Japan has raised funds for victims of Katrina and the Indonesian tsunami. This time it’s much more personal to me and to the Shiro of Japan family. We are asking the community to be generous to the people of the country where I was born and raised,” said Hiro Ishikawa, Co-owner of Shiro of Japan.
Individuals and businesses have risen to the occasion in the past, but it is anticipated that RELIEF – JAPAN will be Shiro of Japan’ s most successful fund-raiser ever. Everyone at Shiro of Japan is getting ready to present an extraordinary evening with a spread of truly authentic Japanese cuisine, featuring sushi, hibachi, passed appetizers and sake samplings.
RELIEF – JAPAN tickets are $150 per person. Sponsorship packages of 15 tickets are $2,000. The event includes drawings for fabulous gift baskets and prizes. All money raised through RELIEF –JAPAN will be donated to the Japanese American Lions Club Charities, Inc. In addition to the Carle Place event, 10 percent of the sales on April 11, 2011, at Shiro of Japan Restaurant at the Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale, Queens, will also be donated to RELIEF – JAPAN.
