The publication identifies lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Partners Rosemary Gousman, Alan Lesnewich and Christopher Mills, along with Senior Counsel Cynthia Jacob, are honored with the distinction.

Biographical information

Cynthia M. Jacob: Cynthia Jacob is Senior Counsel in the New Jersey office of Fisher & Phillips. She began her legal career in public service with the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender. A Past President of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Ms. Jacob was the second female to be elected to this office in the association’s 100 year history. Her practice is focused on litigating employment-related cases, including wrongful termination, employee benefits disputes, race, sex and age discrimination, and other civil rights litigation all on behalf of management. She is a member of the American Arbitration Association Panel of Arbitrators – Labor and Employment Law and regularly mediates and arbitrates employment disputes. Ms. Jacob has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Daniel O'Hern Award as Professional Lawyer of the Year from New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Professionalism. She is also the recipient of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey Trial Bar Award, and the prestigious Debovoise-Eakeley Award from Legal Services of New Jersey.

Rosemary S. Gousman: Rosemary Gousman is the managing partner of the New Jersey office of Fisher & Phillips and has practiced labor and employment law for more than 25 years. Ms. Gousman has trial experience in bench and jury trials as well as arbitration proceedings. She has litigated cases involving claims of discrimination, hostile work-environment, wrongful discharge, wage and hour laws, assault and battery, defamation, traditional labor law involving union-management relations, and employee benefits disputes. She also counsels employers facing challenging human resources issues and seeking to comply with complex leave, anti-discrimination and other employment laws.

Christopher H. Mills: Chris Mills is a partner in the New Jersey office of Fisher & Phillips and has more than 30 years of experience assisting clients in navigating through the maze of labor and employment laws. Formerly, he served as in-house counsel at AT&T for 12 years, where he held a number of labor law positions, completing his service as the company's labor and employment law counsel for its corporate headquarters. He has a wide range of experience in employment litigation, employment discrimination, workforce reduction, employment-at-will and wrongful termination, traditional labor relations law, affirmative action plans, and employee pension and benefit plans. Mr. Mills has been selected to represent major corporations in class actions and collective claims.

Alan G. Lesnewich: Alan Lesnewich is a partner in the New Jersey office of Fisher & Phillips. He has handled hundreds of cases on the management side in arbitrations, has litigated in state and federal court, and addressed matters before administrative agencies. Mr. Lesnewich’s expertise covers discrimination claims, class actions, wrongful termination suits and employee benefits disputes. He is an experienced trial lawyer who has successfully tried numerous employment-related cases to verdict, with extensive experience in handling internal investigations in the workplace setting and providing litigation-avoidance counseling. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Lesnewich had a successful career in business and law enforcement.
