Power of Predictive Plant Maintenance Shared by To-Increase

Bottom-line benefits for Industrial Equipment Manufacturers shared in new article and blog post by Microsoft Dynamics solutions provider

Norwell, MA, March 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- To-Increase, a provider of Microsoft Dynamics solutions for discrete and industrial equipment manufacturing, shares the power that predictive plant maintenance wields over the bottom-line of Industrial Equipment Manufacturers (IEM) in a new blog post and article due for publication in Prime Magazine.

The blog post, The Crystal Ball of Plant Maintenance, leverages the source article Streamline the Plant Floor by Herbert van de Ridder. Due for publication in late March, van de Ridder's article begins with the fundamental statement that today's manufacturers are facing the need to produce their products faster and at lower cost. As such, the demands placed on today's manufacturers have transformed the notion of increasing efficiency into a buzz-worthy topic.

"Imagine how efficient your manufacturing plant could be if your production planning schedule allowed you to predict – unequivocally – when major equipment was due for maintenance," states post author Luciano Cunha, Global Industry Director, To-Increase, "But put aside what this would mean to the rather broad notion of efficiency – and predict instead what this would mean to your quantifiable bottom-line."

Cunha's post goes on to highlight the fact that many manufacturers adhere to ad hoc maintenance schedules, whereby schedules are based on little more than discussions between production planners and maintenance staff.

"The concern with taking a looser approach to plant and equipment maintenance is that it is in sharp contrast with the needs of today’s manufactures and the demands of customers," states Cunha. "To be most effective, maintenance schedules require a basis in real-time, global visibility – rather than undocumented conversation. And this is where the crystal ball of plant maintenance comes into play."

In concluding his post, Cunha cites examples from van de Ridder's article, whereby major manufacturers have been able leverage the real-time visibility capabilities of plant maintenance solutions to predict when critical machinery is due for maintenance. The result for manufacturers that have leveraged solutions offering real-time visibility and global insight is more effective maintenance planning, and more reliable quoting of due dates to customers.

"Predictive plant maintenance, fundamentally, means an increase in production efficiency," concludes Cunha. "But more importantly – it means faster output and happier customers – perhaps the two most important factors that add up to a thicker bottom-line."
