Pulse Energy Tracks Building Energy Savings for Earth Hour
Vancouver, Canada, March 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Pulse Energy, North America’s leading independent building energy management software company, is pleased to announce the results of its 2011 Earth Hour campaign. This year Pulse Energy monitored over a dozen sites around the province as part of a world-wide movement for climate action. Participating organizations’ buildings are featured on an online building energy dashboard (my.pulseenergy.com/dashboards/EarthHour2011). On average these sites reduced their energy consumption by 20%, saving two megawatt hours of energy during Earth Hour. If every person in Canada achieved this level of energy savings for an hour daily there would be enough extra energy to send the Vancouver Skytrain to the sun and back 814 times. To see a summary of all participants’ savings go to EarthHour.PulseEnergy.com.
This year WWF, the event organizer, asked participants to go beyond Earth Hour and take more regular action to fight climate change. Using building energy management software is just one of the ways organizations can reduce their impact on the environment while also saving money.
“Pulse Energy can help the world's buildings to use less energy and save money every single day, and the cumulative impact of these savings is enormous,” said Pulse Energy Co-founder and CEO David Helliwell.
Since 2008, Pulse Energy has been the source of real time building energy data for organizations participating in Earth Hour. In 2011 organizations featured on the Pulse Energy dashboard took action to reduce building energy use in support of climate action with great success. Highlights include savings of over 1400 kilowatt hours at Polaris Reality’s two locations: AXA Place and the well-known downtown landmark Harbour Centre. In remote Hartley Bay, which generates all its own power locally, the community achieved 100% reduction in energy use. “Earth Hour is a tremendous way to show the world the cumulative impact of a large number of small efforts to reduce energy use. Our mission at Pulse Energy is to help the world’s buildings to take those actions every day, to ensure a long-lasting positive legacy of this important event,” said David Helliwell, Pulse Energy Co-founder and CEO.
