Boston’s Best Neighbor and Taste of Dorchester® Combine Forces

Boston, MA, March 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Two of Boston’s newest and best neighborhood traditions have announced a tasty partnership. Taste of Dorchester® and Boston’s Best Neighbor will combine for an evening celebrating the strength and diversity of all of Boston’s neighborhoods from 6PM-8:30PM on April 28 at the IBEW Hall, 256 Freeport Street in Dorchester.

Vargas & Vargas Insurance of Dorchester, Norwood and Stoughton MA is pleased to announce a call for entries for the 3rd annual Boston’s Best Neighbor Award.

Carlos Vargas, President of Vargas & Vargas Insurance and originator of the award, stated “The purpose of the annual Boston’s Best Neighbor Award is to honor an individual who has demonstrated special care, concern, and volunteer hours to make their neighborhood a safer, more pleasant, and more friendly community for all of the residents. This individual may have made contributions to other neighborhoods, projects, or citywide concerns.”

Nomination guidelines and details can be found on the Vargas & Vargas Insurance website at www.vargasinsurance.com. Nominations must be submitted or postmarked by April 15, 2011. The 2011 winning nominee will receive $2,000 and a plaque to be presented at the Taste of Dorchester® event. The individual who nominates the winner will receive a $500 check and $500 donated to the charity of their choice. Two runners-up will also receive $250 each.

In only its 3rd year but already a neighborhood tradition, the Taste of Dorchester® will bring together some of Dorchester’s best restaurants on April 28 to showcase the dynamic culinary options available throughout Boston’s largest and most diverse neighborhood. Proceeds from the Taste of Dorchester® benefit the important work for sustainable homeownership conducted by the Dorchester-based non-profit Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA). “Top Chef” Sponsors of the Taste of Dorchester® are the Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation and Vargas & Vargas Insurance, and The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts (SBLI) is the Executive Chef Sponsor.
