Nourishing USA Earth Day 2011: Nourish Yourself, Nourish the Planet
Nourishing USA is celebrating Earth Day this year with a celebration in East Harlem. On April 23rd, Nourishing USA along with other sponsors will be presenting Nourish Yourself, Nourishing the Planet, a day filled with fun and learning.
New York, NY, March 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Nourishing USA Earth Day: Nourish Yourself, Nourish the Planet will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23th, at 12 pm at Carver Community Garden on 124th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Manhattan as well as in smaller gardens around the Bronx and Manhattan. Organizers of the event, led by Nourishing USA, have been presenting Earth Day celebrations since 2008. Nourishing USA Earth Day is a day of education, celebration and action for the world in which we live. In the spirit of Earth Day, and through the generosity of its sponsors, this event is free for the whole family.
Nourishing USA Earth Day, East Harlem’s largest Earth Day festival, sets a clear example for people and businesses as to how simple lifestyle changes can make a difference. For example, Nourishing USA Earth Day will feature on site recycling demonstrations, edible art, free fresh produce distributed from a vegetable oil powered VAN, and energy efficient give outs. There will also be healthy food demonstrations from the New York Women’s Culinary Alliance, providing goodies that require few wasteful utensils and are good for the body. Additional highlights of the day will include environment displays and demonstrations, interactive and educational booths by local environmental non-profit and small business groups, exhibits by local artists, and a Kids’ Zone for youngsters.
Sponsors for the event include, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Earthbound Farm, TCP Inc., SpaHa Café, Manhattan Land Trust, the Manhattan Borough Presidents Office, Milk from the Heart, and the New York City Office of the Mayor. “The responsible stewardship of the environment is one of our core values. We’re delighted to support this event with our financial assistance, because it serves as a vivid example of collaboration in the community for a common good,” says Nourishing USA sponsor.
“Nourishing USA Earth Day is an amazing demonstration of how the everyday decisions we make in life affect our environment,” explains Nourishing USA Earth Day organizer and event co-chair Gina Keatley. “It is a chance to better understand the issues affecting our region while taking direct action to be part of the solution. It’s the most fun you can have saving the planet!”
