The game took place in 1973 in Bejing, China and featured top collegiate players from the USA taking on the Chinese National Basketball Team.

Coached by Gene Bartow, the USA team had several interesting players including future NBA Phoenix Suns star player Alvan Adams, future NBA star Denver Nuggets coach George Karl, and future star UNLV college coach Lon Krueger. Other players of note included Kevin Stacom, Kevin Grevey, Rich Kelley, and Quinn Buckner. Each of these players went on to play in the NBA.

This game was of major historical importance at the time, as it was a sign of a political thaw between the United States and China.  President Richard Nixon had been leading the initiative to improve relations with China and this was a major acknowledgement of that effort by the Chinese, who approved the television for this trip only days prior to the event.

The game was televised by the TVS Television Network, the largest indepndent network at the time and the fourth oldest commercial television network in the United States. The announcer is lead TVs announcer Dick Enberg, who has since  become a legendary network announcer.

"We always enjoy finding sports events of historic note and placing them on our SportsTV4U broadband channel," said TV4U,Inc. CEO and President Charry Kennedy.
