TheSSLstore and 4Green Donate $1000 to UNICEF for Japan Recovery
TheSSLstore.com, one of the most prominent major-brand SSL security certificate providers, is donating $1000 to UNICEF’s Japan recovery division through its 4Green environmental program.
St. Petersburg, FL, April 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The majority of the gift comes from a portion of sales throughout the business week following the devastating earthquake and tsunami; additional funds were given “out of pocket” by TheSSLstore to round out the $1000 donation.
“We would like to thank all our customers who purchased throughout that week for making this campaign so successful,” said TheSSLstore spokesperson Kent Roberts. “This is something we really care about. We unfortunately had to lean on customer purchases to generate the bulk of the gift, so we greatly appreciate our customers for helping to make this donation possible.”
TheSSLstore had difficulties finding an appropriate charity. The 4Green research and development team spent much of the weekend following the disaster trying to pinpoint the best nonprofit for “green” giving, since this was both a humanitarian and environmental catastrophe. Based on this research, the company chose UNICEF (https://secure.unicefusa.org/site/Donation2?df_id=9640&9640.donation=form1).
Roberts explains that TheSSLstore consulted with the Union of Concerned Scientists (www.ucsusa.org) after failing to find a prominent environmental organization on the ground in Japan. UCS Press Secretary, Aaron Huertas, suggested several organizations among them UNICEF, which was chosen for the 4Green effort due to its Millennium Goal of “environmental sustainability” (http://www.unicef.org/mdg/environment.html).
TheSSLstore created the 4Green program early this year as a way to take genuine, substantive steps to inject environmental consciousness into its business operations. 4Green is a continuing effort with monthly progress updates for anyone concerned with sustainability issues. Interested parties can contact Mr. Roberts directly to learn more about 4Green or TheSSLstore.
