Doug Pierce Joins SparkBase as Chief Technology Officer
Retail and technology industry veteran Doug Pierce will lead software development for SparkBase, a rapidly growing reward program and gift card processing company.
Cleveland, OH, April 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- SparkBase (www.SparkBase.com), the leading provider of white-label reward program and gift card processing to ISO’s and acquirers in the financial services industry, announced today that Doug Pierce has joined the company as chief technology officer. The change is a strategic decision to increase the amount of time and resources the company can spend developing new products and functionality for the SparkBase reward program and gift-card processing platform. “Adding Doug Pierce to our team is a coup,” said Doug Hardman, CEO of SparkBase. “The timing is perfect to bring on an accomplished and experienced IT executive like Doug. We will leverage his broad experience in POS integration and loyalty systems to ensure our continued leadership in the market.”
Prior to coming to SparkBase, Pierce was the Chief Software Architect of DimpleDough, Inc., a cloud-computing card management platform for top-tier retailers and banks. At Datavantage, a subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc., Pierce helped architect and manage development of the XStore Java POS, managed development of Relate, an integrated stored value, loyalty and CRM system and oversaw technology and integration between Relate, Balance and XBR, a leading loss prevention tool.
“It’s an exciting time to join SparkBase,” added Doug Pierce, “My experience in retail, stored value and financial software gives me a deep background to understand how the architecture of the SparkBase platform integrates with a merchant. The company’s growth is accelerating rapidly, and with such a strong processing platform I am confident we’ll be able to release features and functionality that merchants want and that the market sees as disruptive.”
About SparkBase – SparkBase entered the stored-value industry in early 2004 as the first truly independent gift and loyalty processing network. SparkBase continues to lead in innovation with its proprietary gateway, using patent pending technologies for processing stored value transactions with traditional cards, and new mobile payments methods like SMS messaging.
