Hoegemeyer Hybrids Receives Patriot Award
The award was presented in recognition of the company's support of an employee who serves in the Nebraska Army National Guard.
Hooper, NE, April 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hoegemeyer Hybrids has been honored with a Patriot Award in recognition of the company’s support of an employee who serves in the Nebraska Army National Guard. The award was recently presented to Hoegemeyer Hybrids by the Nebraska Committee for the Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense.
Sergeant First Class Matt Thoene of Hooper, a member of the Army National Guard 189th Transportation Company 2nd Detachment in Mead, nominated Hoegemeyer for its support of the Guard and Reserve, and of him and his family.
In the nomination, Thoene noted that, while he was deployed in Iraq, his colleagues at Hoegemeyer checked up on his wife to make sure everything was okay at their home. They would scoop the snow and rake the leaves, so his wife did not have to worry about it. They also sent care packages to Thoene. In addition to granting leave for annual training, the company has allowed Thoene to take extra training classes so he could advance through the ranks of the National Guard. Thoene was recently promoted from Staff Sergeant to Sergeant First Class.
Presenting the Patriot Award was Steven Hokamp, Area Chair of the Nebraska ESGR.
According to Walter Zink II, ESGR Nebraska Chair, “The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”
