SWACHA Gets Its Wheels Turning in Celebration of PayItGreen Month
Dallas, TX, April 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- SWACHA today unveiled its “Wheels on SWACHA Tour,” at NACHA’s PAYMENTS 2011 conference in Austin to help elevate consumers’ understanding on the environmental benefits of throwing away paper checks, bills and statements, and opting instead for online banking and electronic bill pay. NACHA’s PAYMENTS 2011 conference is an annual gathering of industry leaders from financial institutions, government entities, technology companies, processing companies, and others throughout the country involved in the electronic payments system.
The specially-designed car is part of a national education effort in April sponsored by the PayItGreen™ Alliance. Dallas-based SWACHA, one of the founding members of the Alliance, is one of the largest not-for-profit regional payments associations in the country. The car will cruise the city streets and highways of Texas to promote PayItGreen Month along with online banking and electronic bill pay.
“We wanted to do something that would creatively highlight the PayItGreen initiative along with the messages our organization and our members work so hard to communicate every day,” said Dennis Simmons, AAP, president and CEO of SWACHA. “Judging from the excitement of our members, I think we hit a home run.”
“Get on Board with SWACHA”
SWACHA also launched a Facebook campaign at the PAYMENTS 2011 conference to track the whereabouts of its car. The “Get on Board with SWACHA” campaign encourages anyone who spots the car to take a photo and upload it to the “Get on Board with SWACHA” Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/getonboardwithswacha for a chance to win prizes. The “Get on Board with SWACHA” campaign will run through May 31. More information on the campaign is available at SWACHA.org.
PayItGreen
PayItGreen's mission is to reduce paper's impact on the environment by promoting electronic billing, statements, and payments. By electing to receive and pay bills electronically and have paychecks automatically deposited at a bank, people eliminate the need for the production, transportation and disposal of paper, thus saving trees, cutting down on the number of trucks on the road and reducing wastewater. In fact, if twenty percent of U.S. households switched to electronic payments and billing this year, 1.8 million trees would be saved, the equivalent of more than 150 million pounds of paper.
In addition to the mobile billboard, SWACHA will launch a statewide radio campaign in April to promote environmental stewardship in regards to electronic payments, statements and direct deposit in hopes of motivating Texans to take action.
