Maybank.MOB FUN & MoneyTree NEXT Launch Party at GSC Tropicana City Mall

With over 3000 fans on Facebook, Maybank.MOB Financial Understanding Network (FUN) held a momentous occasion for their loyal fans by upholding a launching at GSC Tropicana City Mall. The movie 127 Hours was complementary to the launch, which was supported by the fans who came from various backgrounds.

Ampang, Malaysia, April 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On March 3rd 2011, 3,267 Facebook page fans from the Maybank.MOB Financial Understanding Network (FUN) were invited to watch a free movie – 127 Hours at GSC Tropicana City Mall on a first come first serve basis. The event was sponsored by MoneyTree Malaysia and Mainstream Online Buzz (MOB), and supported by Maybank.

This event was held in conjunction with the launch of two exciting new projects called FUN and NEXT respectively.

The guests started to fill in the hall, and the event started off with a presentation by Edward Lee, Director of MoneyTree Malaysia. MoneyTree invited the students to join the first ever interactive programme on the equities market and IPO trail which would help students learn about the mechanics of the Stock Exchange, list a company and mingle with industry players via the New Enterprise Exchange programme (NEXT).

The students received special discount vouchers from MoneyTree to participate in the programme and a chance to win a total prize money of RM15,000 for best trader as well as RM50,000 in cash and in kind for best listed company. Students were also asked to stay tuned to find out more on their fan page at http://www.facebook.com/thenextmarket.

The act was then followed by a speech by Jolene Sim, Director of Mainstream Online Buzz. Jolene extended invitations to the students to join the first ever purely Online Treasure Hunt conducted on the Maybank.MOB Financial Understanding Network (FUN) Facebook Fan Page which they can gain practical financial knowledge by cracking clues on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/maybank.mobfun) every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at 9pm.

Winners who answer correctly will walk away with prizes such as a 3 day 2 nights trip to Universal Studios Singapore, Cash prizes worth RM 2000 and much more.

Shortly after the speeches were done, the game session began. A remote control trivia question game was hosted with the aim of improving financial and general knowledge in a fun way. The twist is that players were picked to represent their audience row in a random manner and are made to challenge another player in the trivia game to win the prize at stake. The energetic crowds were such good sports making the event extremely lively.

In line with Maybank.MOB FUN’s Treasure Hunt theme, the audience was made to "hunt" for goodies within the proximity of the cinema. More than RM600 worth of prizes such as Starbucks gift vouchers; cash prizes and popcorn were given away. A lucky member of the audience walked away with RM180 cash prize.

The pre-show events were then topped off with a prize giving ceremony, complemented nicely with group photos for the winners. The committee members and the guests were brimming with smiles, resulted by a successful launch. The idea of a good movie coming up within the next few minutes helped as well, surely.

Once the movie started, it was clear that the crowd were enjoying the cinematic performance portrayed by James Franco, staring in the movie ‘127 Hours’. The movie ended with a full round of applause, both on the success of the launch and the enjoyable movie session. The closing credits were the cue for the beginning of networking and lively conversations between the members of the audience.
