Ice-Planet.TV - The Future of the TV Fan Site

www.ice-planet tv breaks new ground in science fiction fan sites. Games Correspondant becomes part of the Splinter Cell legend.

Ballymoney, United Kingdom, February 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- www.ice-planet.tv, the world’s first unofficial fan site for the new science fiction series “Ice Planet” starring Michael Ironside is pleased to announce a unique role for one of their own in the new Splinter Cell novel.

Jackie Fiest, www.ice-planet.tv’s gaming correspondent, has been awarded a special place in the new David Michaels’ Splinter Cell book after an online competition on the Splinter Cell website “www.thefairersects.com”. Two lucky fans won a once in a lifetime prize of having characters in the new book named after them, but Jackie Fiest was given a "walk on part" as herself in the new book as a personal thank you from the author.

Michael Ironside, who will play Rear admiral Trager in "Ice Planet" has voiced the role of Sam Fisher since the first outing of Tom Clancy’s Splinter cell on gaming consoles in 2002. Since then there have been several games and three novels, as well as persistent rumors of a big budget feature film.

“Jackie's a dedicated Splinter Cell fan,” said author David Michaels, “but she's also done so much to directly support the franchise that I feel she's earned a cameo.” As a result she has been rewarded with “a walk-on part in the next book.”

Jackie, a devoted Michael Ironside fan and dedicated gamer came to www.ice-planet.tv after an open competition for gamers last year and now heads the gaming section of the website.

The staff at www.ice-planet.tv are all very proud of her achievement.

As the development of the unofficial site progresses, recognition from the international science fiction community has spiraled. Chief editor, Vincent Fox, reports "We already knew that the production company, Spaceworks, were regular visitors and eagerly await our monthly newsletters and regular updates, but our notoriety seems to be spreading. Already we have members in Canada, the USA and Eastern Europe as well as in the UK and Ireland, several of whom have joined our growing forum and commented on our site and the show. And the visitors are now coming in their tens of thousands to follow the development of this exciting project."

The gaming community is eagerly awaiting news on the Ice Planet game, which has already been confirmed for X-BOX 360 release, as well as a mobile version in the latter stages of production by Silverbirch Studios.

The game will be available in 'multiple wireless devices'. “One of the challenges of mobile game development is that in order to get a game distributed to the widest audience possible, we have to ensure there are versions available for all of the major makes and models of phones.” Says Silverbirch’s CEO Kevin Birch. “This can mean literally hundreds of different versions ("skus") of a game when you also factor in the need for multiple languages.”

www.ice-planet.tv is the world’s first fan site (unofficial or otherwise) for this exciting project. Webmaster Alan cornish and editor Vincent Fox believe that it is the first fan site in history to track a programme from it’s inception to its completion. "This is more than a fan site, it is a living history of a work in progress."

www.ice-planet.tv are actively seeking a sponsor to join them in this groundbreaking project. If you would like to join this trend setting phenomena, drop the webmaster an e-mail at webmaster@ice-planet.tv . This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic global network at a ground floor level.
