Celebrate Autism Awareness Month at Eden Autism’s Family Fun Day & Resource Fair
The kids and seminars for parents, grandparents and siblings of individuals diagnosed with autism. Eden Autism Services is offering a Family Fun Day and Resource Fair on Saturday
Fort Myers, FL, April 08, 2011 --(PR.com)-- It’s a day jam-packed with fun activities for the kids and seminars for parents, grandparents and siblings of individuals diagnosed with autism. Eden Autism Services is offering a Family Fun Day and Resource Fair on Saturday, April 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Eimerman Education Center (2801 County Barn Road in Naples).
Trained Eden staffers and volunteers will be on hand to supervise and promote play and social skills in children with autism or Asperger’s, while their parents, and even grandparents, learn more about the conditions. Fun is provided through arts and crafts, games, face painting, trampolines and more.
Parents will connect with other parents experiencing the same issues. One session helps parents by identifying “Autism Friendly” professionals and services. There’s a sibling workshop on Understanding Autism, as well as a grandparent’s session on Understanding and Supporting a Grandchild with Autism.
“Families coping with autism need to know that a diagnosis isn’t the end of the world. There’s a wealth of information and a multitude of resources available for families who are living with autism,” said Susan Suarez, Executive Director of Eden Autism Services. “Family Fun Day brings some of these resources together and allows families to connect with other experiencing the same challenges. It’s fun for the kids and eye-opening for the parents.”
Some of the sessions require pre-registration, including: Decreasing Marital Stress After a Diagnosis presented by Dr. Amber Perymon, Clinical Director of Eden Autism, Nutrition Essentials for Individuals Diagnosed with Autism by Dr Trudy Moon, a board certified nutritionist and Visual Schedules - Successful Implementation & Maintenance of a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) In the Home, by speech therapist Jessica Harris.
Registration is requested. Pre-registration for supervised care during the event as well as the sessions offered is required by April 12, call Eden Autism Services at (239) 992-4680. X205, or get the registration online at www.EdenFlorida.org
