RFID Asset Management Software Upgrades Solution with Alarms, Automation and Search Features
FixedAssetManagerâ„¢ 2.8 from epcSolutions Enhances Performance and Builds Value
Great Falls, VA, April 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Fixed asset management system software, FixedAssetManager 2.8 (FAM 2.8), has been released by epcSolutions, Inc., provider of RFID and asset management solutions. The new features to FAM 2.8 include asset protection alarms, inventory control automation, and improved asset search performance.
“In this world of heightened security, asset management is becoming more and more about asset protection,” said David M. Russell, Vice President of Operations at epcSolutions. “This latest round of features focuses on meeting this very important market demand.”
Russell continues, “The new FixedAssetManager 2.8 can sound an alarm if the person carrying an asset to the door isn’t authorized to do so or if those assets weren’t properly checked out before leaving. This works in retail situations as well, giving retailers the precise knowledge of exactly which item has been purchased and, as such, is allowed to leave. Manufacturers can use this same functionality to identify which products are targeted for which loading points, with an alarm sounding and lights flashing or an email notification when a product is moved into the wrong truck.”
FAM 2.8 provides an inventory management console, allowing a librarian to update whether assets, such as sensitive documents, weapons, or computers, are checked in or out, to whom and for where they are destined. This new librarian role support also provides the ability to comment on the action performed, and if necessary, post-date the receipt or movement actions of fixed assets for more accurate financial statements or recording of tax liability.
The latest version of FAM also enables the dynamic import of multiple users, assets and locations with status and history for each. This feature provides a complete audit trail for every asset in inventory. Additionally, the updated software now includes faster search functionality for larger inventories and improved synchronization between multiple facilities and multiple handhelds.
FixedAssetManager 2.8 includes the following mobile application enhancements:
· Able to scan and associate location ID, barcode or RFID
· Inventory search based on location
· Improved auto-generation when adding new assets
· Exportable inventory reports
· Faster device synchronization

About FixedAssetManagerTM
FixedAssetManager (FAM) utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) as an efficient, inexpensive method for inventory and fixed asset tracking. FAM associates customizable, relevant information to the asset such as owner, site, model, serial number, manufacturer, purchase value and date. The FAM RFID asset tracking system uses a network of location-based RFID fixed readers or mobile RFID handheld readers to track tagged assets. Fixed reader and antennae placement provide complete coverage of an area’s exit and entry points. With RFID fixed asset management software, tracking assets and users in the system through the last known state provides a clean audit trail of inventory and resources. RFID readers are set to different roles including Check-In/Check-Out functionality, location, list assets and inventory management depending on the solution’s configuration.
Compared with manually scanning of inventories by individual barcode, handheld RFID technology finds all RFID-tagged assets within range at the same time. Assets are quickly and accurately checked in or out, increasing company productivity and precision and the bottom line.
