One of the greatest musicals of the 20th century is coming to the Manchester Opera House from the 23rd to 28th May.
Manchester, United Kingdom, April 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita has proven to be one of the most enduring musicals this talented duo has ever created, with such memorable songs as Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina, Another Suitcase and Another Town, and On This Night of a Thousand Stars. This true story of the rise of a woman from small-time showgirl to the powerful wife of the former President of Argentina has won the show more than 20 major awards.
The Opera House is one of Manchester’s largest theatre venues and is the perfect location for this new production, which features Abigail Jaye in the title role of Evita.
Abigail has done some serious research into the personality of Eva Peron – one of the most written about women in recent history, and has come to a personal conclusion: “She can be perceived as a bit of a witch, but I think she was just very determined.”
The role of the iconic guerrilla leader Che Guevara was portrayed on screen by David Essex, but is played in this production by Mark Powell.
Ticket prices range from £19.25 to £36.25 and are available from the Opera House website.
The show commences at 7:30 pm each evening, with matinees on Thursday 26th May and Saturday 28th May at 2:30 pm.
