ABC11 Eyewitness News Makes Severe Weather Radios Available to N.C. Residents at Reduced Cost
Radios Share Emergency Information from National Weather Service, U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Raleigh, NC, April 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- ABC11 Eyewitness News (http://www.abc11.com) has announced a program to make All Hazard Weather Alert Radios available at a reduced cost to North Carolina residents. Through this Severe Weather Radio Giveaway promotion, residents have the opportunity to purchase a severe weather radio at local Walgreens stores for a reduced rate.
The radios sound an alarm and provide life-saving information from the National Weather Service and the Department of Homeland Security by warning you of tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and other local emergencies. The program will run through Tuesday, Nov. 1.

- The station will distribute 111 free Hazard Weather Alert Radios to seniors at a kick-off event Friday, April 8 at Wake Forest Fire Station #1, located at 420 Elm Ave. The station has worked with the North Wake Senior Center in Wake Forest to notify area seniors.
- Severe weather radios normally retail for $60 or more. Through the promotion, these radios will be available to purchase at any local Walgreens for $29.95.
- The station helped sell 4,000 severe weather radios in 2010.
