Career Management Alliance Announces 2011 Award Winners
This year’s Mentor, Bridge, and What Color is Your Parachute award recipients were honored at their annual spring conference in Las Vegas.
Peterborough, NH, April 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Career Management Alliance, the world’s leading professional association dedicated to linking all divisions within the careers industry, announced today winners of its annual Mentor, Bridge, and What Color is Your Parachute Awards. Honorees were recognized at the Alliance’s annual conference, April 6-8, at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Mentor Award honors those individuals who have guided others in tradecraft, entrepreneurship, and community-building. Through teaching and example these mentors have inspired their colleagues and generously shared their wisdom. This year’s Mentor winners are: Bridget Weide Brooks, Omaha-based founder of the Resume Writers Digest; Wayne Pagani, a leader in the Canadian career community for over 14 years; Don Orlando, a careers-industry leader for over 17 years and a charter member of the Career Management Alliance; and Caitlin Williams, trainer, speaker, advisor and Assistant Professor in the Master’s Degree Program in Counselor Education at San Jose State University.
The Bridge Award honors a professional who has made a significant difference in the field by connecting professionals from a wide variety of sectors within the careers industry, including government, academia, the corporate sector, nonprofits and the entrepreneurial world. By connecting these individuals, the Award recipient has successfully acted as a “bridge” – offering them opportunities to network and learn from one other as well as the chance to form long-lasting friendships. This year’s Bridge winners are: Carmen Croonquist, a 24-year career industry veteran who has created numerous bridges at international, national, local, academic and personal job seeker levels; and Sharon Graham, a recognized leader in the career transition field throughout Canada and internationally in the government, academic, corporate, non-profit, and entrepreneurial sectors.
The What Color is Your Parachute Award recognizes an individual who has made a sustained, enduring and innovative contribution to the careers industry; someone who has stayed on the cutting edge and shared his or her knowledge on a wide scale—and exemplifies the path blazed by Dick Bolles, author of What Color Is Your Parachute (10 million copies sold), and the founder of modern career counseling. This year’s award goes to Susan Whitcomb, pioneering career coach and author of seven books, including the best-selling Resume Magic and subsequent Magic series.
All winners are nominated by their colleagues and/or peers, and all eligible submissions are reviewed independently by a quorum of the Alliance Master Team (board members recuse themselves if nominated or nominator). They are instructed to vote based on the criteria and content of the nomination only.
