Self-Publishing Authors Compete for Best Book of the Year Award and the $1,500 Grand Prize
Outskirts Press has announced the three finalists in its annual Best Book of the Year Award, which recognizes the best book overall that Outskirts Press published in 2010 as voted on by the readers of the Self Publishing News blog.
Denver, CO, April 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press, the fastest growing self-publishing and book marketing company, announced today that voting will begin on April 15th, 2011, for the winner in the prestigious Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year Award for 2010. Outskirts Press has already selected three finalists from the most recent EVVY award winners. Friday’s vote will broadly recognize the most talented author by bestowing on him or her the Best Book of the Year Award and its $1,500 Grand Prize.
"Our Best Book of the Year Award recognizes one talented self-published author with the talent to write an award-winning book and the marketing tenacity to promote it,” said Outskirts Press Director of Author Support Kelly Schuknecht. “These three finalists have already won a renowned EVVY Award, and now are charged with spreading the word of their notable talents throughout the publishing industry. The book with the most votes wins!"
Anyone and everyone can participate in the selection of the author who wins the Best Book of the Year Award by voting in the open poll on the Outskirts Press Self Publishing News blog starting on April 15th at www.selfpublishingnews.com.
The first of the three finalists is Frank B. Leibold, Ph.D., who has had a distinguished thirty-year business career with three multi-national corporations, culminating in the position of Group President. Frank then returned to school, earned his Ph.D., and became a nationally recognized university professor of marketing while founding his own global management company. He and his wife live in South Carolina.
His book, The Key to Job Success in Any Career, defines six scientifically validated Lifelong Transferable Competencies (LTC’s) that are required for success in any job or career. The author then offers over sixty practical suggestions for enhancing future employment options by developing one’s own LTC’s to improve career transitions and influence.
The second finalist is Robert J. Mignone, M.D., F.A.P.A. For decades he has helped people bounce back from all kinds of crises and he has been called a gifted and inspirational speaker, both in person and on TV. A top ranked psychiatrist in southwest Florida and a two time cancer survivor, Dr. Mignone is also the author of Ordinary Valor: How Cancer Saved My Life, Not Once, But Twice and Psychiatric Injury: Evaluation and Treatment of Psychiatric Impairment and Damages.
His newest, EVVY award winning book, Psych Consults, is full of practical information for anyone who wants to learn more about mental health and although scholarly, it is an accessible work written for any adult seeking to recognize and treat everything from depression to those specific issues faced by children and seniors.
The third finalist is Doris Kenney Marcotte. Doris has now turned decades of studying the Minoan civilization into two novels. She has researched at the Athens National Museum, the Heraklion Archeological Museum on Crete and the British Museum in London, among others. She lives in River House in New Richmond, Ohio, and Hilltop House in Wyoming, Ohio.
Marcotte’s The Beads of Lapis Lazuli is part mystery, part psychological drama, and mixes history, obsession and the paranormal into an exhilarating read. The story bridges time and space and is about seeking truth, taking control of one’s life and discovering the unknown strength within each of us.
On-going results of the vote will be publicly available throughout the voting, which ends at the end of April. Outskirts Press will announce the winner of the Best Book of the Year Award in the first week of May.
