Linea-pro Expedites Retail Checkout Using Apple's iPhone 4 and iPod Touch
Arlington Heights, IL, April 14, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Now available for the Apple iPhone 4 and the iPod touch 4th generation, the Linēa-pro 4 from Infinite Peripherals, Inc. (IPC) (www.ipcprint.com) is revolutionizing retail store checkout by equipping sales associates with a mobile point-of-sale (POS) device that eliminates the need for customers to wait in line to make purchases.
Already either used in major retail stores or testing in pilot stores throughout the world, the Linēa-pro maximizes the functionality and convenience of Apple’s iPod touch and iPhone by adding a 1D or 2D barcode scanner and magnetic stripe reader. Stores report that the handheld system optimizes efficiency by increasing customer conversion rates and freeing up floor space formerly dedicated to traditional POS counters.
The original Linēa-pro, introduced in November 2009, was compatible only with the 2nd and 3rd generations of the iPod touch.
“The Linēa-pro helps bring the checkout lane or customer service desk
directly to shoppers, instead of requiring them to spend time waiting in line for service – time that could be spent browsing and selecting additional merchandise for purchase,” said Andrew Graham, President of IPC. “Purchasers really appreciate the time savings, along with the ‘no-hassle’ factor, which creates a huge perception shift of checkout.”
In addition to POS, the versatile Linēa-pro interacts with software written for other applications and industries, including inventory management, asset tracking, ID verification, lead tracking, inspection/work flow, dispatch, time/labor and lab and healthcare.
Unmatched in the Industry
Today, six new versions of the Linēa-pro expand options for businesses:
1. iPod touch 4th generation with 1D barcode scanner
2. iPod touch 4th generation with 2D barcode scanner
3. iPod touch 4th generation with three-track card reader (no barcode scanner)
4. iPhone 4 with 1D barcode scanner
5. iPhone 4 with 2D barcode scanner
6. iPhone 4 with three-track card reader (no barcode scanner)
Each Linēa-pro is comprised of a two-piece plastic shell that attaches to the
mobile devices via their 30-pin mating connector and functions using third-party software that runs on the unit, allowing data to be stored locally or transmitted via a Wi-Fi or cellular network. They come with a Bluetooth® option to connect to a portable receipt printer as well, and IPC offers two receipt sizes for Bluetooth printing: 2” (DPP-250) and 3” (DPP-350).
Accompanying the Linēa-pro are software development resources and tools so
customers can program scanner and reader functions into their own software
application. IPC also partners with several development companies who write
applications for the Linēa-pro.
“The incredible success of our original Linēa-pro demanded that we expand
the product line for additional Apple mobile devices, ultimately to further enhance ease-of-use, convenience and efficiency for our clients and their customers,” said Jeffrey Scott, CEO at IPC.
Now Available
The compact, lightweight devices measure 4.9 inches by 2.6 inches by .75-.98 inches (depending on 1D or 2D scanner) (125 mm by 67 mm by 19-25 mm) and carry a one-year warranty against manufacturer’s defects. The Linēa-pro 4 for the iPod touch or iPhone 4 with a 1D scanner is priced at $499; the Linēa-pro 4 for the iPod touch or iPhone 4 with a 2D scanner costs $599; and the iPod touch and iPhone versions with the three-track card readers only sell for $299.
