SteadyRain Joins the Fight to Raise Money for The Soldiers Memorial Military Museum Through "Measure Your Treasure" Fundraiser
Saint Louis, MO, April 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, located in the heart of Downtown Saint Louis, begins preparations for its first annual "Measure Your Treasure" fundraiser, which will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011, 11a.m. to 4p.m. The event allows Saint Louis area residents to bring personal belongings to the museum grounds for auction value appraisals by professional appraisers that specialize in anything from toys, to baseball cards, comic books, antique furniture and historic military items.
“We are having this event to bring awareness to the soldiers and families that have sacrificed, at all costs, for our freedom. The artifacts at the museum are reminders of their noble work on our behalf. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum,” states Erika Anstey, event coordinator. “The appraisers have generously donated their time and knowledge to ensure the success of this event. We are hopeful that this will continue for many years to come.”
The Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, which opened on Memorial Day, May 30, 1938, was built to honor the men and women who gave their lives through serving their country. Over the years, the museum accrued a vast collection of authentic military-related objects, which include weapons, photographs, posters, uniforms, flags, medals and war-time related memorabilia from both the battlefront and the home front. "Measure Your Treasure" will help contribute to the revitalization of the downtown landmark and will raise funds vital to the day-to-day care and conservation of the museum’s collection.
“All of the artwork on the flyers and logo were beautifully done by SteadyRain,” states Anstey. SteadyRain will be providing internet strategy, website development, other design and development support services as well as assisting the Memorial with online marketing initiatives for the upcoming event.
“As Missouri tourism becomes a growing part of our business, our desire to support and promote tourism in the City of St. Louis continues to grow as well,” said Thompson Knox, Executive Vice President. “We think it is vital to support important local attractions like the Soldiers Memorial especially when funding for those attractions may be in jeopardy. Their collection is very important to the military history of the city. We hope that our efforts will shine a renewed light on the Memorial as a family destination for local tourists coming to the city to visit other attractions like the Arch or the City Museum, as well as attraction regional tourists with some additional online exposure for this tremendous city historic site.”
All appraisals will cost just $10 per item, regardless of an item's size. For larger items, please use the ramp on Pine Street between 13th & 14th Street. For additional information about the event, please contact Erika Antsey via email at info@measureyourtreasure.net. For additional information about the Soldiers Memorial, please contact Lynnea Magnuson at (314) 622-4550.
The event is being sponsored by SteadyRain, a Saint Louis based Internet strategy, design and development agency, and is being produced in partnership with the City of St. Louis and Erika Anstey, who orchestrates necessary marketing and coordination efforts.
