Love Our Children USA Mothers Who Make A Difference Awards 2011
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 8th. At a time when violence against children affects over 3 million children in our country, and when bullying and bullying suicides are at an all time high, Love Our Children USA announced the recipients of the Sixth Annual Mothers Who Make A Difference Awards, recognizing and supporting celebrity mothers for balancing motherhood, work and causes around the world. This year’s winners include: Christie Brinkley, Jenna Elfman, Amy Poehler and Gwen Stefani.

At a time when violence against children affects over 3 million children in the U.S., and when bullying and bullying suicides are at an all time high, Love Our Children USA announced the recipients of the Sixth Annual Mothers Who Make A Difference Awards, recognizing and supporting celebrity moms for balancing motherhood, work and causes. This year’s winners include: Christie Brinkley, Jenna Elfman, Amy Poehler and Gwen Stefani.
These celebrity moms take on vital global issues, giving of themselves to better the lives of others and still find time to balance their work and the most difficult job of all – parenting.
Ross Ellis, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Love Our Children USA said “For the sixth consecutive year we are delighted to honor and celebrate these selfless and caring women who contribute so much to their children, families, society and to various causes.”
Ellis also stated, “At a time when our country’s youth are plagued by bullying, cyberbullying, Internet dangers, school violence and suicide, not to mention those parents in critical need of more positive parenting solutions, these mothers serve as role models for others, as their children are their first priority.”
The 2011 Mothers Who Make A Difference include:
Christie Brinkley - supermodel and mother of two daughters and a son, actively supports UNICEF's Art & Entertainment Committee, Handgun Control, Ovarian Cancer, Susan G. Komen, Greenpeace, the Cousteau Society, Southern Poverty Law, the Wilderness Society, STAR, NY Coalition for Healthy School Food and The Ross School. She entertained USO troops, serves on the Board of the Global Security Institute, has appeared in PSAs for March Of Dimes and was honored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Jenna Elfman - best known as the star of Dharma and Greg, recently completed shooting a new film, Friends With Benefits. Mother to two sons, Jenna participated in the National Education Association's (NEA) Read Across America. For two years she donated an hour of her time to be auctioned off to the highest bidder as part of the “Lunch With A Leader” fundraiser, benefiting Communities In Schools. She recently appeared in a PSA for The Humane Society. In 2007 she was presented with the Goodwill Ambassador Award for her work in human rights. In 2008, Jenna joined the Charity Water “September Campaign,” requesting donations in lieu of birthday gifts in order to raise money to build freshwater wells in Ethiopia.
Amy Poehler - comedian and actress was a Saturday Night Live cast member for seven years. Starred in the films Mean Girls and Baby Mama and is currently the lead of NBC's Parks and Recreation. She has been nominated twice for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series on SNL, and once for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in Parks & Recreation. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Series. She is married to comedian/actor Will Arnett and has two young sons. She supports the following charities: Artists for Peace and Justice, Autism Speaks, Rosie’s Place, and the Worldwide Orphans Foundation.
Gwen Stefani - an American singer/songwriter and fashion designer. This lead vocalist for the rock band No Doubt, Stefani recorded her first solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. in 2004. She has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and won the 2005 World Music Awards “World's Best-Selling New Female Artist.” In 2003, she debuted her clothing line L.A.M.B. She has two sons and is married to British musician Gavin Rossdale.
