Jeld-Wen Field’s FieldTurf Surface Earns FIFA 2-Star Certification

Portland, OR, April 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Jeld-Wen field’s FieldTurf surface has earned FIFA 2-Star recommended status. This marks the only FIFA recommended field in the state of Oregon. The Portland Timbers’ home opener was Thursday, April 14th and the pristine new FieldTurf surface was on display as the home team defeated the Chicago Fire by a score of 4-2.

Home primarily to Major League Soccer's Portland Timbers, Jeld-Wen Field’s FieldTurf surface was installed in March 2011. This field has been designed specifically to mirror elite levels of playing characteristics for soccer. The FieldTurf system has gained recognition within the global soccer community for providing ideal levels of energy restitution, grass-like ball performance, and proper shock absorption.

In addition to being the home of the Portland Timbers (MLS), the Portland State Vikings football team also calls Jeld-Wen Field home. The venue also hosts a variety of sporting and non-sporting events, including various league championships.
