The Alameda Art Works: Silicon Valley Open Studios Site #186
On May 21 and 22, 2011, 11am-5pm - The Alameda Art Works will be hosting its 2011 Spring Silicon Valley Open Studios.
San Jose, CA, May 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- For this Open Studios Event, nearly 20 artists specializing in oil, water color, acrylic, mixed medium, and pastel paintings, as well as jewelry, textiles, woodwork, photography and music, will open their working studios to the public. Artwork is available for sale. The Alameda Art Works now boasts one of the largest, most diverse and lively artists’ communities in the Bay Area.
You may visit the Alameda Art Works Open Studios from 11am - 5pm on Saturday, May 21, and from 11am-5pm on Sunday, May 22. Refreshments will be provided by the artists. Children are welcome.
The Alameda Art Works building, where the event will be held, is a historic feature of the Saint Leo’s Neighborhood and the Rose Garden area. Built in 1927, it operated until 1974 as the Auditorium Roller Rink, also known as Roll-Alameda. Purchased by Falko Forbrich in 1991 it was reconstructed to house multiple art studios. Visitors will be able to see the fascinating atrium building of the Alameda Art Works as well as view and purchase original art where it is created. This year the artists at the Alameda Art Works are partnering with the Shasta/Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association. Our building will be part of a tour through the Hanchett Park Neighborhood to look at special gardens and historic sites. If you take this tour, be sure and stop in to see some art!
