Littleton, CO, April 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Novus Biologicals is excited to announce a new PINK1 antibody (catalog number NBP1-49678) for the study of mitochondrial markers and neurodegeneration. This PINK 1 antibody was made using SDIX Genomic Antibody TechnologyTM (GATTM).
PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1) is a mitochondrial serine/threonine-protein kinase, involved in the PTEN tumor suppression pathway. PINK-1 protects cells from stress-induced mitochondrial dysfunction, and defects in this protein may lead to various cancers and Parkinson’s disease. PINK 1 is strongly expressed in the skeletal muscle, heart and testis, and is expressed at lower levels in the brain, placenta, liver, kidney, pancreas, prostate, ovary and small intestine.
