iPhonography Exhibition at the Museum of Discovery and Science
See wildlife and nature photographs taken on Fort Lauderdale Beach by Andy Royston of Tangled Spider Design Group, featuring QR codes to learn more.
Fort Lauderdale, FL, April 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Andy Royston, known on Twitter as FtLauderdaleSun, shares his love of the beach and its wildlife with visitors to the Museum of Discovery and Science at a exhibition of iPhone photographs.
His photographs, taken on his daily early morning walks, will be on display in the museum’s lobby until May 5th.
All images are taken on an iPhone and are sent all around the world via Twitter to his thousands of followers – directly from the beach.
The exhibition is unusual in that every photograph is accompanied by a QR code directly below the image. This means that viewers can scan the code with their smartphones and are immediately taken to further information, further images and other pages from Andy’s website, www.ftlauderdalesun.com.
“I can’t be there when people see my photographs,” explained Andy “but the QR codes give people the opportunity to learn more. When I was setting up the exhibition, someone came and scanned one of the codes straight away. The technology is comparatively new but people definitely know how to use it.”
TSDG’s CEO, Andrew Hillier, says:
“We use QR codes a great deal for our clients and the demand is growing. Andy’s exhibition is a great example of just one use of this technology.”
In a recent interview, Andy was asked what reactions he received to his photographs.
“I have found my photos move people, and I regularly hear from people who find my work inspirational and uplifting. I too feel the emotional power of a new sunrise and am very grateful that I can touch peoples hearts with a photograph. I think people know that my images are real, and represent the very same dawn they see too. It makes the images more powerful, I think. Not everyone can walk such a beautiful beach every day, and if my images help uplift, motivate, or inspire others, then that’s a wonderful thing.”
In addition to their beautiful Fort Lauderdale sunrises, Andy’s exhibition features his photographs of birdlife, shells and a variety of extraordinary sea creatures.
More events featuring Andy and his iPhonography will be announced in the near future.
