Local Global Education Non-Profit Partners with New Schools in Cameroon, Thailand, and Costa Rica
For more than 20 years, SAGE (Studies Abroad for Global Education), has offered unique study abroad experiences in India for high school students. For the first time, SAGE is expanding and offering the same quality study abroad terms at the American School of Yaoundé (ASOY) in Cameroon, Africa; the PTIS International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand; and The Country Day School Guanacaste (CDSG) in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Fort Collins, CO, April 28, 2011 --(PR.com)-- SAGE is known for sending American students to esteemed international boarding schools in India for a semester or year of cultural and academic exposure that U.S. private and public schools cannot provide. With the addition of ASOY, PTIS, and CDSG, SAGE is launching their Global Schools Consortium, expanding their high school study abroad experiences to the far reaches of the world.
“We’re very excited about ASOY, PTIS, and CDSG coming on board. The schools have stellar reputations and can offer another world of culture to high school students,” said Executive Director of SAGE Nathan Kumar Scott.
SAGE’s long-term partner institutions in India, Woodstock School and Kodaikanal International School, are the top ranked high schools in the country. They are both accredited with American universities, provided top-notch academics taught in English and a culturally diverse environment.
The three schools adhere to all of SAGE’s high standards and expectations. Unlike many study abroad experiences, SAGE schools board students on campus to minimize the risk of using a host family.
ASOY- Students interested in African culture and French language will find the courses at ASOY are unmatched. The ASOY campus spans across 4 acres nestled in the central part of Yaoundé. Cameroon is often referred to as "Africa in miniature" because it has everything the continent has to offer—mountains, rainforests, savannah, desert and ocean.
PTIS- Students will enjoy a richly diverse cultural experience at PTIS. The campus is set on 100 tropical acres of forest and open land just outside of Chiang Mai—the “cultural capital” of the Thailand. PTIS offers a host of exciting activities for students and is a fully accredited IB (International Baccalaureate) school.
CDSG- Adventurous students will enjoy the opportunities unique to CDSG. The school’s 15 acre campus is located among Costa Rica’s tropical rainforests, raging rapids, sandy beaches, and abundant wildlife. CDSG is a private, independent, college prep boarding school that provides environmentally-focused AP courses.

About SAGE:
The SAGE Program was founded in 1992 as a program to support international recruitment to Woodstock and Kodaikanal International Schools in India. SAGE has continued to support this effort while developing additional programs of our own under the auspices of the Friends of Woodstock School. In 2008, SAGE became a registered 501-c-3 non-profit organization with an independent Board of Directors.
SAGE now not only offers semester and year abroad opportunities, but Gap year and volunteer opportunities in locations in Asia, Africa and Latin America; and custom designed educational travel experiences for schools and other groups around the world.
Since SAGE’s inception, we have held to the belief that international travel and study is fundamental to a crucial awareness of global citizenship. Over the years, SAGE has sent hundreds of students abroad with the goal of providing them with a deeply transformative experience. We continue with that today.
