SMART Turbine Inc. Invited to Present on SPROUT Program Experience at SMBC
Rohnert Park, CA, April 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On May 3rd, SMART Turbine Inc. will be at the Sonoma Mountain Business Cluster presenting on their experience with the SPROUT program. SPROUT is a business incubator program that is run by the Sonoma Mountain Business Cluster, (SMBC).
Once in the program, a mentor is assigned based on relative background and then must also be accepted by the company. The mentor is tasked with helping the new company prepare documentation for the fund seeking process as well as helping the new company understand the true focus of their business and prepare a quality business plan.
According to Brad Hunter, "Our business is based on a fantastic product with substantial potential in multiple markets with room for licensing some of our technologies. However, we learned through this process that we are better positioned for success by focusing on a specific market and driving all of our materials and business operations to that market. As we grow, we can then address other markets as they become viable for the health and growth of our company. We also learned to economize our business plan to match this focus.
"In the beginning it is more important to have attainable goals than it is to have market potential all over the place. An example might be the shoe company Nike, who initially targeted elite athletes. Nike was able to grow and reach a wide market after the initial maturing with that very narrow market. As we potentially have millions of customers with potential to buy multiple units, we need to focus on a very narrow market already identified by recognized authoritative entities. In our case, building wind turbines, we use the American Wind Energy Association also known as the AWEA."
