The Infernal Device Needs Help - Green Power Search for Grand Rapids ArtPrize Contestant

Grand Rapids, MI, April 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Infernal Device, http://infernaldevice.net/Artprize/, is a large-scale, mechanically animated sculpture conceived by steampunk/retrofuturist artist Myke Amend (Grand Rapids, MI), enginartist Steve Brook (Ferndale, MI) and steam modeler Todd Cahill (Waltham, MA) as a collaborative entry for Artprize, the country's largest open-entry art competition, held in Grand Rapids, MI. The intent is to build a dynamic sculpture using vintage, re-purposed materials that will be powered entirely by alternative energy sources such as wind, solar and bio-mass steam. The final work will be a stunning combination of moving 3-D sculpture and 2-dimensional painting with many articulating features working together as a single cohesive work.
