Smart Homes Hit Main Stream: Lennar Arizona is Offering Energy Efficient-Technology Rich Homes
It used to be only high end custom homes featured Smart Home gadgets to make life easier. That technology has now hit mainstream with one of the nation's largest home builders, Lennar - specifically in Arizona. Technology allows home owners to make sure their children arrive home safely from school, remotely adjust the temperature and lights, and let the plumber in during a specific window of time. It's cool and it's included in many new Lennar homes in Arizona.
Phoenix, AZ, April 29, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Have you ever left on vacation and wondered 'Did I turn down the heat?' or, 'Did I remember to lock the front door?' Or have you been at the office and wanted to see if your child made it home safely from school? Enter the smart home. While smart home technology has been available in selected custom home environments it is now becoming readily available for the average homeowner.
Lennar Arizona is including smart home technology from Schlage, a business of Ingersoll Rand, a leader in creating and sustaining safe, comfortable and efficient environments, along with new energy saving features in two new communities in the state - Vision at Layton Lakes in Gilbert and Destiny at Dove Mountain in Marana, northwest of Tucson.
“Buying a new home has never been more advantageous to the buyer. Not only are new home prices affordable, but the addition of energy and technology features make buying new versus old a smart choice. The on-going returns of an energy efficient home in terms of reduced energy bills are huge. And now the addition of the smart technology gives the homeowner some significant advantages that deliver comfort and peace of mind,” noted Lennar’s Arizona Division President Alan Jones.
Lennar Arizona’s new smart homes feature the Schlage LiNK™ system, a remote home management system that gives consumers a convenient and affordable way to self-monitor and control access to their homes 24 hours-a-day/seven days-a week. When paired with a Trane Remote Energy Thermostat, the Schlage LiNK system gives consumers total control of a homes’ heating ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC). The system allows homeowners to perform a variety of tasks from any location in the world via a computer or web-enabled cell phone, including:
- Receive email or text alerts when access codes are entered into the door lock - an ideal feature for working parents
- Keep a 90-day log to track who’s coming and going
- Create temporary entry codes for a cleaning service, pet sitter, etc.
- Check the door to see if it is locked, instead of returning home or calling a neighbor
- Program the system to automatically turn on lights and/or adjust the indoor temperature
- See what’s going on at home with a camera positioned in selected rooms
Lennar has also invested in construction processes that deliver highly energy efficient homes and every home will be ENERGY STAR qualified. Each home will have standard – Vinyl - dual pane low “E3” windows which reduce solar heat gain over 70% above clear glass, 14 SEER HVAC systems, radiant barrier in the attic - which minimizes the heat transfer from the roof sheathing resulting in a substantially cooler attic & reduced air conditioning costs, ENERGY STAR compliant dishwasher and other energy saving features. As a result, these new homes offer a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) score of 70 or less. In comparison, an average new code-compliant home is 100, and a typical ten year old home has a HERS rating of 140. The lower the number, the better the energy efficiency.
At Layton Lakes, a Gilbert master planned community, Lennar has unveiled a new series of model homes that deliver new energy and technology features as standard. Vision at Layton Lakes features homes ranging in size from 2,397 to 3960 square feet, and starting at approximately $300,000. The Layton Lakes master plan includes multiple lakes, streams, waterfalls, equestrian trails, parks, playgrounds, baseball, soccer and softball fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, lighted tennis courts, walking trails, picnic areas with barbecues, one of a kind splash park, amphitheatre, and rock wall. The community is minutes from San Tan Village Mall and charming downtown Gilbert.
In Marana on Tucson’s northwest side, Lennar has purchased 20 home sites in the gated Dove Mountain community, an area that has gained national attention by hosting the PGA golf tournament at the prestigious Jack Nicklaus-designed Dove Mountain Ritz Carlton. Lennar’s position there includes homesites with unobstructed views of desert and sweeping mountain vistas. Nestled in the Tortolita Mountains, Lennar’s Destiny at Dove Mountain model homes are located at 12340 Meditation Lane, Marana. The new homes, ranging in size from 1,955 to 2,338 square feet, and are priced from just under $250,000. All of the energy and technology features come standard with each new Lennar home in this community. www.lennar.com
