Fountain Quail Sees Growth Opportunities as Marcellus Drillers End Current Water Discharge Practices
Fountain Quail Water Management, the leading recycler of industrial wastewater in North America, expects decision by Marcellus drillers ending current water discharge practices to accelerate opportunities for its technology.
Fort Worth, TX, May 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Fountain Quail Water Management LLC, a subsidiary of Aqua-Pure Ventures, Inc. (AQE – TSXV), today commended on a decision by the Marcellus Shale Coalition to end the practice of discharging wastewater from shale gas drilling operations into area waterways. The Coalition, which represents the leading natural gas drillers in the region, said its members are committed to voluntarily halting the use of riverside treatment plants that have released millions of barrels of produced and flowback water into local rivers by May 19, 2011.
The Coalition announced that after May 19, its members would begin sending wastewater to underground disposal wells in Ohio, or recycling the water for re-use in hydro-fracking operations.
Richard Magnus, Aqua-Pure’s Chairman, cautioned that while stopping the river discharges is a critical first step, transporting millions of barrels of wastewater to Ohio for disposal is both wasteful and costly.
“Recycling is the most environmentally responsible and sustainable option for handling shale gas wastewater,” explained Magnus. “Fortunately, it’s also a very cost-effective alternative in Pennsylvania due to the high cost of transporting the water to disposal wells in Ohio. This decision by the Coalition significantly accelerates our opportunities in the Marcellus.”
Fountain Quail, the premier recycler of oilfield wastewater in North America, has developed and refined its industry-leading technology for recycling flowback and produced water over the past seven years in Texas, and since mid-2010 in Pennsylvania. During that time, the company has recycled more than 700 million gallons of shale gas wastewater which would otherwise have been injected into disposal wells and permanently removed from the hydrological cycle.
